[Epoch Times March 27, 2020] (Epoch Times reporter Chen Juncun compiled a report) Nowadays, many people in the world self-isolate at home, and some even worry about food. Wait, a lottery winner in the UK distributed his own potatoes to the people in need and won praise.
She won the lottery first prize of £1.2 million (approximately US$1.43 million) in 2010, and then moved to a farm in North Yorkshire and switched to military farming.
When she learned that people were hoarding food due to the outbreak of Chinese Communist pneumonia (Wuhan pneumonia), she decided to distribute the potatoes she grew to people in need, including combined home isolation and families with disabled people.
After digging for £1.2 million on the National Lottery, she moved to a farm in North Yorkshire https://t.co/AQ8UNFaYBW
Hedman stated on Facebook that she distributed potatoes all day on March 21 and 22. She and her family personally dug up these potatoes from the fields, which caused her backache.
She said that just as the supplies in the store were being emptied because of the plague, she hoped to show the generosity of farmers.
In addition to free potatoes, Herdman also put a large bag of vegetables in the town for people to pick up, and allowed people to harvest vegetables in her fields in certain places.
She said: “For me, it’s not a big deal. We just distribute potatoes. I don’t know selfish people. I have been giving charity throughout my life. Hope this proves that farmers are not so stingy.”
She also mentioned that she received thousands of messages from others saying: “In this dark and selfish world, you make us smile.”
And her good deeds were also praised by local councillor Robert Windass. Wendas said: “In these highly uncertain times, this is an amazing and generous thing.” ◇
